St Regis Saadiyat Island

This stunning hotel is more like a small village than a typical luxury resort. Everything about it feels grand and yet, somehow, attentive staff and the busy common areas like the pool and restaurants will make you feel at home. We wanted a staycation with our toddler and this beautiful hotel exceeded our expectations! The Welcome Just over an hour drive from Dubai, we reached the hotel and all said: "Whoooa" at the grand driveway and entrance. There was a bit of a queue to check in, so we used the time to take photos and enjoy the welcome drink and cool towels given to us by attendants. When it was our turn, we found we had been upgraded to a suite because...

Top 5 Ramadan Dubai Hotel Iftars 2018

Dubai's beautiful hotels go all out in celebration of the holy season, and while I prefer a calm iftar at home with family where we can give leftovers to those in need, I do enjoy experiencing the beauty of tradition the way these five star hotels interpret it as a night out every now and then. So much thought is put into presentation of food, twinkling lights and lanterns, the live oud player, the majlis seating and so much more. So, here's a round up of some of my personal favorite Dubai hotel Iftar buffets in Ramadan 2018! Manzil Downtown Decorated with charming Ramadan lanterns, crescents and glorious lights, Manzil Downtown's courtyard is a great place for observers to break the fast with hot...

The Oberoi Al Zorah

I've been to Fujeirah and Ras Al Khaimah a handful of times, but didn't know much about Ajman - only a half hour drive  from Dubai with a cleaner beach, I'm told. A lot of major five star hotel chains have opened here recently, including Fairmont, Saray Luxury Collection and Kempinski, so I was curious about what the hype was all about. We decided to try the recently opened, sleek Oberoi Al Zorah as a staycation and were blown away by its aesthetic - so modern and serene. It's like a Japanese zen garden on the beach...

Fujeirah Rotana Beach Resort & Spa

Reviewed by Lulu Hamdan! Weaving through curved roads bounded by high mountain peaks, I leaned forward in my passenger seat, taking in the surrounding sights in awe. A two hour drive from Dubai to Fujeirah exposed us to sights of blue seas, scarlet desert sands, lush green farms, and stone grey mountains. Work matters that were on my mind in the initial part of the ride were vanishing away as we became engulfed by the beauty of the mountains around us. Entrance, Reception, and Hotel Design As we pulled up to the entrance of Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa - Al Aqah Beach, the sounds of streaming fountains, children’s laughter, and a tennis ball struck by a racquet filled the air. I looked at...

Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi

Welcome to the future. Inside and out, this unique hotel looks like a spaceship that landed in the middle of the desert. It's half on water, half on land, and 100% futuristic in design. There's a breathtaking glass structure that blankets the two main buildings of the hotel, overlooking the Formula 1 circuit where cars zoom by during the season. With the lighting, it looks magical. I visited over New Year's Eve to take advantage of the proximity to the Yas Arena where Coldplay performed one of the best concerts I'd ever been to. The hotel provided a 5 minute shuttle service to and from the arena, which made my sore feet happy after hours of dancing. And every time we...

Waldorf Astoria RAK

One day, when I get my dream summer home, this is what I want it to look like. This airy, lightweight feeling is mastered throughout the regal Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah, the shining star of hotels in the seaside emirate. I've always loved staycations that mean no airport queues or jet lag, so the one hour drive to RAK from Dubai was a perfect escape. We actually drove by camels on the way - very Arabian nights!   The Welcome Once we reached, the valet area was all high ceilings, marble finishing, valet attendants in taupe and a few Bentleys thrown in for good measure. We had arrived. I began clapping when I saw the lobby. It's actually my second time here, and yes,...
