JA Palm Tree Court

Want to leave the city behind? Get on Sheikh Zayed Road, past Dubai, past the industrial zones of Jebel Ali, take a right towards desert and sea - and you will arrive: a seaside oasis just 20 minutes away from Dubai. This laid-back hotel is popular year-round with couples and families seeking to unplug a little from life. What it offers in return is a sojourn filled with greenery, long stretches of sandy beach, and the ultimate swim-up pool bar.   The Welcome Follow the winding path and beware the peacocks! They're crossing roads, they're taking your parking spot, and you'll later find them chillin' next to you at the beach. They're not so good at playing hide-and-seek: Peacock peek-a-boo :D   [caption...

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam

Staying at this resort is like staying at an upscale, adult version of Disneyland. You've got a world class gym around the corner (we've spotted Versace models and Miss Universe in zumba class), the bars of Madinat Jumeirah steps away, and some of the city's most popular restaurants right at your doorstep. Mina A'Salam is part of the Madinat Jumeirah complex that includes Al Qasr and Dar Al Masyaf.   Sweet Suite Book an ocean suite, just do it. Aside from containing two of our favourite words in the world (Suite. Ocean. Enough said), there's really no better way to embrace a vacation state of mind than sitting on your balcony and enjoying a private terrace with a killer view. And yes, that...

Rixos The Palm

You’re going, still going, going some more… seems like the drive along the palm never ends as you pass a handful of nice resorts and wonder why you didn’t just book one of those - then bam, you’re at the end: Rixos The Palm. We couldn’t help feeling like The Palm Gods had somehow saved best for last with this little Turkish delight. The resort is operated by Rixos, a Turkish luxury hotel chain - so it really is a Turkish delight. Less messy, equally satisfying. The Welcome Sit in couches in the expansive lobby area, beneath evil eye emblems on the walls, and sip on freshly made strawberry drinks as you check in. The theme of sipping fruity drinks and being...

Four Seasons Jumeirah

Doesn't this make you want to take a deep breath and smile? The @fourseasons #Dubai in #Jumeirah is such a short drive from some of the busiest parts of town - Dubai Mall, for one - and yet creates an atmosphere that is its own, calm universe….   The Welcome Winding up a green hill in line for the valet behind Bentleys and Lambos, we enter a world of luxury before stepping foot in the Four Seasons Jumeirah. Once out of the car, we see beautiful arches to the right and left. This beautiful symmetry of arches continues again inside the hotel lobby, before we are greeted with a grand winding staircase leading down to the gardens and the beach. The only thing...

St. Regis Dubai

A stone’s throw away from busy, noisy Sheikh Zayed Road, we wondered how relaxing a stay at St Regis Dubai could really be. As we entered the green, long driveway leading up to the elegant building, we felt more like we were in Provence headed towards a French chateaux.   The Welcome @stregisdubai opened in 2016 on Sheikh Zayed Road, a haven of tranquility close to bustling #DowntownDubai. The valet opened the door for us after taking care of Bentleys and Rolls Royce’s in the driveway. When we entered the lobby, our eyes were drawn upwards with a grand spiral staircase, up, up towards a dazzling chandelier. It’s sophisticated, old world charm made us feel like we needed to brush up on...

Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

Atlantis the Palm is a landmark in Dubai with its asymmetric shape rising out of the sea like… well… the lost world of Atlantis. See what I did there? Get ready to embrace your inner mermaid and dive into this zany celebration of all things underwater. Noteworthy: This resort is more like a small city within a city. At any time of day, there are hordes of people flitting from restaurant to the beach and from the aquarium to the waterpark. We know what you’re thinking… how to stand out in the crowd? Go for the 3 C’s: colour, comfort and class. The Welcome Right in the centre of the massi ve lobby is a massive blue, glass sculpture by American artist Dale Chihuly...
