Park Hyatt St Kitts

Reviewed by a former Times of London and FT travel writer exclusively for Holidays in Heels! The Welcome The twin island nation of St Kitts & Nevis in the eastern Caribbean – once famous only for its sugar plantations and a visit nearly 20 years ago by Lady Di and her sons William and Harry – is fast becoming the premier luxury getaway in the region, threatening to eclipse rivals such as Antigua and Saint Lucia. There is no greater example of this than the recently opened Park Hyatt Saint Kitts, the brand’s first foray into the Caribbean. Set in Banana Bay, less than half an hour’s drive from the airport and the capital Basseterre, the gently sloping beach is dotted with...

W Hotel Miami

*Reviewed exclusively for Holidays in Heels by a NY based jetsetter! There is nothing like that first drive in a new city after arriving in the airport. After landing in Florida, as the taxi expertly winded down roads and weaved through lanes on wide set bridges, I was soaking in every detail of the city I could manage. I knew we were close to the hotel once we reached the famous Ocean Drive on ‘SoBe’ i.e. South Beach Area – a strip of cafes and bars overlooking the ocean. Women walked around sporting fluorescent colored crop tops and high-waisted tiny jean shorts while the men walked with a lazy strut. Food trucks were on every corner, emanating the scents of a...

Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa

Reviewed for us by Australian blogger Claire Hastings! For those who aren’t in the blogger ‘line of business’ it’s sometimes difficult to comprehend that it’s not all just chill and relaxed sitting at the computer with the ideas just pouring like waterfalls. Even though it’s a fabulous job, one that I hardly consider a job given how strong my love for it is, it can be quite taxing. That is why, just like any other person in the world, every now and then, when I can take the time to catch my breath I am in desperate need of some quality alone time, far from everyone’s sight. I felt drained and truly needed to unwind and recharge my batteries, and I...

Eleanor Oliphant is Fine

This is a heartwarming beach read that made me laugh out loud. Those of you who loved The Rosie Project will like this for the same reason - Eleanor is a socially awkward office worker who lives a lonely life, but she has a big crush on a local musician. Her attempts at changing her outlook on life and socializing more will make you smile :) Highly recommended!...

Carlton Hotel St Moritz

*Reviewed exclusively for us by luxury travel pros Laura Brown and Laura Snook! Set right between fur coats, high street brands and classy cars, this town of the affluent entices and welcomes international guests seeking allure and adventure. The Welcome In between mountain passes, forests and lakes, the five-star Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz is at the center of this fairy-tale scene. The sunlight plays in through the windows in the large and elegant spiral staircase and emphasizes the splendour of a former time. The hotel faces the luxurious town of shops, cafes and luxury competition, yet its location – overlooking the lake and the twinkling lights of the mountain town at night- ensures guests feel a world away when they retreat to...

La Prairie

Reviewed by luxury travel pro Laura Brown! Located on a picture perfect spot along the quay of Lake Geneva, known as the ‘Swiss Riviera’. Just off the promenade, a grey and white minimalist build looms  just off the road uphill, situated on a green lawn and situated with the serenest view a retreat can ask for, overlooking the calm of the lake nestled at the foot of the Swiss Alps, this location in the classy town of Montreux is meant for a wellness resort and spa: Clinique La Prairie. The Welcome The resort is located in a beautifully coiffured garden, simplistic in shape and elegant in style. The building grasps your attention upon arrival, yet from inside the architecturally strong structure lets your senses...

Skye Hotel Suites

Reviewed exclusively for us by Aussie blogger Claire Hastings! I love my hometown of Brisbane, but seeing Sydney is something I will never get tired of, so to say that I was ecstatic about us meeting there would be an understatement. I had a blogger conference to organize in Sydney and wanted to choose a hotel that is architecturally stunning, comfortable and with a luxurious feel, features interesting facilities, and last but not least, has an Instagrammable quality to it. It’s no wonder we unanimously agreed that our home for the weekend will be the SKYE Hotel, and I am super-excited to share my experience. The Welcome We all know how strong the power of good photography is; it simply makes everything better...

Hotel Aurelio

A chauffeur picked us up at the station in Arlberg, Austria, and took us on a drive through quaint towns that wouldn’t look out of place in The Sound of Music until, finally, we reached it: Lech. Techno music spilled onto the streets from open-air bars. People sat in trendy ski outfits laughing over brimming mugs of beer or walking around holding skis and snowboards. It looked like a commercial, down to puppies in fuzzy sweaters and Swarovski collars. And all around us were jagged mountain peaks blanketed in thick snow, with people zigzagging down the slopes with skill – even young children. Despite our long journey to get here, we suddenly felt rejuvenated by the fresh air, vibrant music, and...

The Storfjord Hotel, Norway

*Reviewed exclusively for Holidays in Heels by luxury travel pros Mona Khalil and Rana Dababneh of Pomalo Travel It is with a little hesitation that I am trying to pronounce the destination where I am holidaying this winter month – Skodje, the Storfjord Hotel to be exact. The more I say it, the more it becomes a rhythmic sound and I am looking for excuses to repeat myself. Not so much to hear the twang in my voice, but more so to repeat where my journey will take me this time: Norway, to the fjords on the west coast. The Setting Amongst a scenery of pine trees covered in snow, a near perfect white countryside; only the little houses with smoke escaping...

Qualia Hotel

Guest review of Qualia Hotel in Hamilton Island by Aussie blogger Claire Hastings! No matter how wonderful your life is, sometimes you simply need to get away. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I had this irrational feeling that I was losing touch with myself, and that I needed to reconnect. Being both an introvert and an extrovert is taxing on a person. I genuinely enjoy the company of my friends, and love cooperating with people in my line of work, but every so often I come to feel drained and in need of alone time. Yes, being at home, all by my lonesome usually recharges my batteries. Still, I had been working too much without a break...
