Carlton Hotel St Moritz

*Reviewed exclusively for us by luxury travel pros Laura Brown and Laura Snook!

Set right between fur coats, high street brands and classy cars, this town of the affluent entices and welcomes international guests seeking allure and adventure.

The Welcome

In between mountain passes, forests and lakes, the five-star Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz is at the center of this fairy-tale scene. The sunlight plays in through the windows in the large and elegant spiral staircase and emphasizes the splendour of a former time. The hotel faces the luxurious town of shops, cafes and luxury competition, yet its location – overlooking the lake and the twinkling lights of the mountain town at night- ensures guests feel a world away when they retreat to their palatial pad each night.

Sweet Suite

The trilogy of natural elements is quietly reflected in the materials and interiors. Interior designer Carlo Rampazzi has created a unique look and feel for every of the sixty suites with rich colours and a rich mix of materials.

The natural elements play center stage in the ornate spaces; rays of sun playing with the textured wallpaper, leaf-like patterns fill the curtains and a tacked leather headboard feature in the master bedroom is a striking statement. The elegant junior suites offer soft tones, whilst the Carlton Suite and even the Czar Suite offer delicately tailored boldness in the most fitting of tints and fabrics.

Fine Dining

Gastronomy is scrumptious, from breakfast to midnight snacks. The uber-high class, yet enviably cosy Michelin star restaurant ‘Da Vitorrio’ sits next to the downstairs entrance whilst classy Romanoff welcomes guests on the bel-etage. The same floor as where the bar, ballroom and sun-terrace are featured and just off the library with its ornate stone fireplaces on either side from former Czar times.

The Spa

In the lower part of the hotel, the spa opens up to the outdoors with a beautiful private viewing plateau – a calming spot for after the ever-so-relaxing massages.

Inside, three floors cover over 1200m2 of wellness from ladies only saunas to private dayrooms to enjoy an array of treatments and massages, together or alone. The indoor pool is subdued in colours and alongside the outdoor deck, the indoor pool offers a picturesque view from the large windowsills overlooking the valley.  The menu is extensive and ranges from calming reflexology to sport massages, even hot stone and Ayurveda are part of the offerings. The Carlton signature massages are surely those to sample, as they combine techniques and aromas to suit your state-of-mind.

And an absolute state-of-mind the Carlton Hotel surely is…

The Carlton Hotel, St. Moritz is part of the private Tschuggen Hotel Group and has been committed to providing exceptional hospitality, award-winning cuisine, luxurious spa experiences and breath-taking views in some of Switzerland’s most beautiful spots for over 30 years.
